Salento
Lapped by Jonian and Adriatic seas, Salento's peninsula sleeps in Mediterraneo, between East and West. Lecce, called "Southern Florence", is the main town; here there are architettonics masterpieces made of typical rock called "Lecce stone".
Really interesting are limitrophe towns, rich of monuments and beautiful landscapes.
Salento's anscient tradtions, influenced by turkish, consist moreover in famous "Pizzica" ballads.
The local language is made of old lullaby of Phoenician origin, Griko, Albanian and sometimes Arab language.
Natural parks, Porto Cesareo and Cesine among all, are axample s of natural beauty of this land.
Delicate sand and reefs are perfectly combined with crystalline water and numerous old watchtowers.
The hand-made iron, paper-pulp, terracotta and reed are the basic of local handicraft as well as wine, olive-oil and flowers are basic of agriculture.
